A pencil is two grooved slats of wood glued around a core. Get that glue-up right and it sharpens to a clean point for its whole life. Get it wrong — core not bonded to both slats, or sitting off-centre — and the slats flex, the core cracks along its length inside the barrel, and it breaks again three sharpenings later.
That is the pencil everybody remembers from school, and nobody in this trade sells against it, because it is invisible in a photograph and it is where the cost comes out.
So we quote the core and the timber first. Bonded and centred as standard, cedar or basswood named on the quote, and pre-sharpened in line and packed points-down when the pencils are being handed out rather than issued.
Why we exist
Promotional pencils are bought by the thousand at the lowest unit price anybody will quote, and at that price something has to give. It is never the print.
It is the glue, the timber grade, and whether anybody sharpened a sample before shipping a hundred boxes. Those are the three things we specify, and none of them cost much.

Round and hexagonal pencils in cedar or basswood, lacquered, matte or raw, with full-wrap print or a foil stamp. Half-length golf pencils, pre-sharpened, with or without a ferrule. Recycled newspaper-barrel pencils and plantable seed pencils, with real germination guidance printed on the pack. Flat and oval carpenter pencils with a wide rectangular core for rough timber. Individually name-printed pencils — a different name on every one, at no extra cost. And boxed colouring sets with a pigment load high enough to colour in one pass.
Everything is proofed on a real pencil, sharpened, before a run goes ahead.
How we price
No dollar figures on this site. Price moves with timber, length, ferrule, imprint method and quantity, and it falls steeply into the thousands where most of this is bought. On the eco options, plainly
A recycled newspaper barrel uses no new timber and sharpens perfectly well. That is a quiet, defensible claim and it is the one we recommend most often.
Seed pencils are lovely and they need honest instructions. A capsule pushed into dry ground in midwinter grows nothing, and the recipient concludes the whole idea was a gimmick. We print the species, the season and the depth on the pack for exactly that reason.
