About this product

Printed Round & Hex Pencils

A pencil is two grooved slats of wood glued around a core. If the core is bonded to both halves it sharpens to a clean point every time; if it is loose, the slats flex, the core cracks inside the barrel, and it breaks again three sharpenings later. That is the pencil everyone remembers and it is a manufacturing choice, not bad luck.

The barrel matters nearly as much. Cedar sharpens cleanly and smells like a pencil should; cheaper hardwoods tear and leave a ragged collar of fibre round the point. We state the timber on the quote rather than saying wooden.

Hexagonal is the classroom and office default because it does not roll off a desk. Round is more comfortable held for a long time and is what most people prefer for drawing. Both take a full-wrap print and a foil-stamped imprint.

FAQ

Printed Round & Hex Pencils: quick answers

What is the minimum order for printed pencils?
Minimum order is just 12 — with bulk pricing tiers as quantities grow.
How fast will my order arrive?
Your free mockup lands within 24 hours and the finished order ships in about 2 weeks — express turnaround is available for tight dates.
Why does the lead keep breaking when I sharpen it?
Almost always because the core is not glued to the wood, or is off-centre in the barrel. The slats flex, the core cracks along its length inside, and it keeps breaking however carefully you sharpen. It is a manufacturing fault, not a technique problem.
Hexagonal or round?
Hexagonal for desks and classrooms, because it will not roll off. Round for comfort over a long session, which is why most drawing pencils are round. Cost is the same.
